Press Release June 4th, 2022

With temperatures hovering in the 90’s, the racing action was as blistering hot as the afternoon sun at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park in Groveton, New Hampshire on Top Furniture of Gorham, New Hampshire night. Winners included Dave Helliwell, Todd Libby, Roger Edgecomb, David Cook, Brandon Sheldon and Bobby Symonds.

A solid field of Bay Haven Restaurant and Lobster Pound 350 Supers lined up for the CJ Robinson Memorial main event. Young Nette Humphrey set a torrid pace in the 30 lap main event as she held the field at bay for the first portion of the event. Dave Helliwell reeled  Humphrey in just past the halfway point and gained the top spot. Kenny White was on a roll and caught up with Humphrey with 8 laps to go and the pair battled hard until White took over the runner-up spot. White set sail to catch Helliwell but ran out of time and settled for second  finishing ahead of Nette Humphrey, Bill Helliwell and Sparky Maciver.

Todd Libby continues to dominate the R.N. Craft Street Stock class as he picked up another hard fought win over Nick Ogden. Ogden controlled much of the first half of the race as Libby patiently waited to make his race winning move on lap eighteen. Mike Giroux raced home third, Cole Watson fourth and Makita Giroux completed the top five.

Roger Edgecomb held off a late race charge from Miller Buzzell to score an impressive win in the Top Furniture, Lil Rascals Dwarf Car main event. The pair set a blistering pace throughout the race, while Bobby Chartier and Howard Switser had their own dogfight for the final podium spot with Chartier grabbing the position and Switser settled for fourth. Paxton Call rounded out the top five.

The highlight race of the night went to the White Mountains Community College Lightning 4’s as Maine’s, David Cook raced to the victory from his 13th starting spot, and held off a very determined Cody Hodge. Chris Ouellette nipped Cody Lapan at the stripe for third and Nick Gilcris rolled home in the fifth spot.

Brandon Sheldon scorched the field in the Claudette and Deans Place DareDevil Youth Racers, as he rolled to a strong victory over Karson Theroux, Braydon Blais, Connor Sherburne and Sophia Beer.

The Wicked Good Vintage Racers put on a heck of a race as they battled from start to finish in their 20 lap feature. Bobby Symonds ended up victorious over Doug Laleme, Matt Gossely, Brian Hughes and Norm Judkins.

Press Release May 20th, 2022

The weather was iffy, but Mother Nature sent some sunshine just prior to the post time at Riverside Speedway & Adventure Park in Groveton, New Hampshire thus allowing the entire night’s card of racing to be completed in just 2 ½ hours. Winners of the night included Bill Helliwell, Ryan Heuser, Sara Schroeder, Paxton Call, and Karson Theroux.

The main event of the evening was the Bay Haven Restaurant and Lobster Pound 350 Supers. The Helliwell brothers both started in the front row and when the green flag flew, they did as well. Billy got the jump but Dave stuck to him like glue as they clicked off laps extremely quickly. The sleek 350 Supers ran green to checkers with Billy holding off a hard charging brother at the finish line to collect his first ever Riverside victory. Justin Harris stayed with the leaders for most of the race but settled for third followed by Mike Keddy and Brad Sanborn.

Ryan Heuser made his 2022 debut a triumphant one as he dominated the White Mountains Community College Lightning 4’s, 20 lap main event. The battle for second was a good one as Cody Lapan and Justin Burt raced hard for the runner-up spot with Lapan defeating Burt for the position. Cassandra Leonard was fourth and Kamryn Ledger came home in fifth.

The Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply, Mattix Mad Dogs 6/8’s put on a crowd pleaser as Maine’s driver Sarah Schroeder and Christian Laflamme hooked up in a spirited battle for the win. The pair stayed close and Laflamme pulled underneath Schroeder with three laps to go but could not make the pass allowing Schroeder to pick up her first career Riverside victory. Following her to the stripe were Laflamme, Paul Gaedeke, Windsor Hodgdon and Cody Richards. Unfortunately Gaedeke failed post race inspection moving both Hodgdon and Richards up a position in the final rundown.

The best race of the night came in the Top Furniture, Lil Rascals Dwarf Cars as Paxton Call raced to his first ever win. Last week Call got planted into the back stretch wall, destroying his car due to a broken suspension. The crew burned the midnight oil all week to get the car back together. A mechanical problem kept him from the heat race but did not deter him in the feature. The Groveton High School freshman bolted to an early lead, but veteran racer Roger Edgecomb reeled in as well as Miller Buzzell. The three ran under a blanket for the last fifteen laps, as both Edgecomb and Buzzell challenged Call repeatedly inside and out. On lap seventeen, Call left the door open and Edgecomb stuck his nose under in turn two and it was a drag race to turn three. Call held on but it was Buzzell's turn as he rode the outside lane around Edgecomb and pulled up on Call’s door but ran out of real estate and settled for second ahead of Edgecomb and Jim Higgins.

Karson Theroux picked up his first career win in the Claudette & Dean’s Place Restaurant Dare Devil Youth Racers division. Brandon Sheldon, Kiya Rogers and Braydon Blais completed the field.

This coming Saturday night, May 28th will feature Beattie Enterprises night and the New England Antique Racers. The Late Models will make their second appearance of 2022 along with the Street Stocks, Mattix Mad Dogs 6/8’s, and the Cyclone Stock 4’s. Post time is 6pm.
