STEPHEN DONAHUE WINS LATE MODEL 75 LAP THRILLER

AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY & ADVENTURE PARK

Race fans were treated to a picture perfect weather night and one of the most competitive Late Model features in recent memory this past Memorial Day weekend at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park in Groveton, New Hampshire. Winners of the night’s events included Stephen Donahue, Aaron Smith, Jason Kenison, Connor Sherburne and Nick Gilcris.

The TMS Diesel Late Models featured a battle for the top spot from start to finish as no less than three cars ran side by side throughout all 75 laps of the feature event. Brenna Humphrey and Matt Mason got together in the early going with Humphrey spinning, bringing out the races only caution. The fun began as Bryan Mason and Jamie Swallow Jr. raced door handle to door handle for the next 30 or so laps with Stephen Donahue coming from next to last to the third spot attached to the lead pair. When Swallow finally got to the front, Donahue came right with him and this pair dueled for the next 40 laps before lapped traffic allowed Donahue to take over the lead and score a popular win. Jamie Swallow Jr. was second while Jason Kenison nipped brother Mike Kenison for the final podium spot. Brian Mason held on for a solid fifth place finish.

Aaron Smith cruised to his second consecutive victory in the Dad’s 4 by Tool and Supply, Mattix Mad Dogs 6/8 cylinder division as several top contenders fell by the wayside with mechanical problems in the 25 lap feature event. Young Windsor Hodgdon cruised home in the second spot ahead of Doug Collins Jr., Jamie Arsenault, and Cody Richards, Julian Kenison raced to his first victory of the season in the Bad Boy Mowers of Morrisville Cyclone 4’s. Second and third place finishers Kody Whittum and Traci Dean failed post race inspection allowing Kevin Michael Whittum Jr. and Christopher Cass to claim those two spots. James Aiken and Ty Heywood completed the top five. Connor Sherburne collected his first win in the Claudette & Dean’s Place Dare Devil Youth Racers as he held off  two of the strongest drivers in the division, Connor Charbonneau and Karson Theroux. Placing fourth and fifth were Devin Morrill and Nicole Watson. The first Enduro of the season saw Nick Gilcris hold off Jamie Heath in the 30 lap main event. Dominic Basset, Brandon Sheldon and Greg Cheal followed the leaders to the finish.

Riverside Speedway & Adventure Park is back in action on Saturday night, June 3rd at 6pm as the Granite State Pro Stock Series invades the ¼ mile, high banked Speedway for a 100 lap main event.
