RICHARD EATON SURVIVES LATE RACE CAUTIONS AND CAPTURES 350 SUPERNATIONALS AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2022.
A beautiful fall afternoon greeted racers and race fans at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park in Groveton, New Hampshire for the running of the Bay Haven Restaurant and Lobster Pound 350 SMAC Tour Supernationals. Winners on the day included Richard Eaton, Cridda Shannon, Shane Weber, Dillon McCowen, James Aiken and Kiya Rogers.
The 350 Supers took the green and sailed off for a 60 lap main event. The race settled in for a long run of 55 laps before the first caution waved bringing the field back to race leader, Richard Easton. Eaton was on cruise control as was leading PJ Stergios and Bobby Timmons. When the green flew Stergios edged out front with Eaton second, and Timmons and Dave Helliwell glued to their rear bumpers. Suddenly the yellow came back out on lap 57 setting up a thrilling three lap run. This time Eaton got the jump and cruised to victory lane as the winner. Stergios, Timmons, Dave Helliwell and Kenny White completed the top five.
Cridda Shannon grabbed the lead early in the Top Furniture Lil Rascals Dwarf Car feature and claimed his first career win in a Dwarf Car. Paxton Call held off a hard charging Roger Edgecomb for the second spot, while Cody Brown and Travis Dunnells placed fourth and fifth.
Shane Weber bested his teammate David Cook in a hard battle between the two leaders and Weber came out on top. Derek Cook finished third ahead of Ricky Austin and Tanner Amyot. Derek Cook ended with dq after post tech.
Dillon McCowen was awarded the first place trophy in the Dad’s 4 By Tool and Supply Mattix Mad Dogs 6/8 Cylinders feature after Mike Giroux failed post race inspection moving up the rest of the field one spot. Aaron Smith placed second ahead of Allyson Avery, Cody Richards and Windsor Hodgdon.
James Aiken became a first time winner in the Bad Boys Mowers of Morrisville Cyclone 4’s. Aiken was dogged the entire way by 2022 champion Doug Collins Jr. and Jason Ball. The top five were Aiken, Collins, Ball, Dave Potter and Jamie Arsenault.
